Installing ScrapIT on MacOS

Follow these steps to install ScrapIT on a macOS computer. Ensure each component is installed in the correct order for a smooth setup.

Step 1: Install Adobe Air (Required)

The ScrapIT GUI application requires the Adobe Air runtime environment to function. You must install this first.

1. Download: Click the link to download the Adobe Air Installer for macOS.
2. Run the Installer: Open the downloaded .dmg file in your Downloads folder and double-click the installer icon.
3. Follow Installation Prompts: Complete the Adobe Air installation by following the on-screen prompts.

Note: If macOS blocks the installation, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway" to allow the installer to run.

Step 2: ScrapIT Touchscreen

ScrapIT Touchscreen is now web-based, offering effective universal usage across all platforms. All you need is your ScrapIT web address to access the login screen.

SPECIAL NOTE: The ScrapIT Touchscreen standalone program is no longer being developed. You may continue to use the standalone program, but note that you will no longer receive updates.

Step 3: Install ScrapIT GUI

1. Download ScrapIT GUI: Click the link to download the ScrapIT GUI.
2. Run the Installer: Locate the GUI.air file in your Downloads folder and double-click it to begin installation.
3. Complete Installation: Follow the on-screen prompts to install the ScrapIT GUI.

Troubleshooting

• Security Permissions: Ensure your macOS allows installation of apps from identified developers in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
• Touchscreen or GUI Issues: Make sure Adobe Air is installed first. If issues persist, reboot your computer and then attempt the installation again.
• Compatibility (Rosetta): On M1/M2/M3 Macs, right-click the ScrapIT app in your Applications folder, select Get Info, and check "Open using Rosetta."

Step 4: Connect to Your Server

1. Open ScrapIT: ScrapIT will launch after installing the GUI.
2. Enter Server Credentials: When prompted, enter your Server IP which will be provided to you by ScrapIT Support or your IT Department.
